On October 17, 2024, 45 neighborhood residents gathered in the buurtkamer of Over de Brug to discuss the future of the Werkspoorhal.
\nThis iconic hall, built in 1929 and designated as a heritage monument, is at risk of losing its public accessibility due to plans for constructing four padel courts. During the meeting, neighborhood resident and artist Titus Dekker explained the Hall’s history and emphasized its importance to the community.<\/p>\n

PvdA city councilor Bastiaan Minderhoud stressed the importance of both social and commercial facilities in the area. He highlighted the threat that the central space of the Hall could lose its public character due to the proposed padel courts. Additionally, there were concerns about potential noise pollution and the loss of a place where the neighborhood can gather for activities.<\/p>\n
