Games bring people together in Buurtkamer Over de Brug<\/h2><\/span>

Since December 2024, there’s something new happening at the Buurtkamer Over de Brug. On the first and third Monday of each month, local residents come together to play board games. The evenings are fun, low-key, and open to everyone. Organiser Ronan shares why he started these game nights.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

An idea during a walk<\/span><\/b>
\nRonan has been living in Oostenburg since November 2024. He quickly noticed that there weren\u2019t many activities in the neighborhood. During a walk, he thought maybe the Buurtkamer would be a good place to organise something. He spontaneously stepped inside and was warmly welcomed by Hilke. Not long after, the first game night took place.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>

Games and atmosphere<\/span><\/b>
\nDuring the Oostenburg game nights modern board games such as Catan, Ticket to Ride, Azul, and Dominion are played; but if you\u2019re a fan of classic games like Monopoly or Rummikub feel free to bring your own game along. The atmosphere is relaxed. There’s plenty of space, snacks, music \u2013 and most importantly, people who just want to enjoy a fun evening together. Everyone is welcome, with or without gaming experience.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

More than just a game<\/span><\/b>
\nFor many participants, the evenings are more than just a fun activity. It\u2019s a great way to meet others \u2013 especially if you\u2019re new to the neighborhood or work from home a lot. Ronan says, \u201cWhen I moved here, I didn\u2019t know anyone. Now I bump into someone almost every day who I met through the game night.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>

De <\/span>Buurtkamer<\/span> is <\/span>a great place<\/span> for new initiatives. Ronan hopes that more evening activities will follow in the future, such as a book club, gardening group, craft workshop, or dance class. He also thinks the <\/span>Buurtkamer<\/span> could use more visibility, \u201cMany people who come to the game night for the first time <\/span>don’t <\/span>even know the space <\/span>exists<\/span>.\u201d You can just walk in and share your idea with Hilke.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>
