Photographer Adrienne Norman spent her childhood living abroad with her family in various nations. The experience of growing up in different cultures taught her to adapt to new situations with relative ease. It is also what she enjoys about photography: observing, meeting, and working with people from different backgrounds, all of whom have a story to tell.

Shortly after completing her photographic studies in the United States, she travelled to Amsterdam in the mid-1980s. The Eastern Docklands fascinated her, and she decided to stay longer, residing in a squatted warehouse on the Borneokade. During this period, she documented the surroundings and its residents.

Still living in Amsterdam Oost, Adrienne has worked on numerous independent and group photography projects in the Netherlands.
