The festive opening of the beautiful Noorderzon building on 27 February was accompanied by music from the Fanfare van de Eerste Liefdesnacht. Their performance undoubtedly played a part in a number of Noorderzon members deciding that evening to get together and make music themselves.

A first public taster of this took place on King’s Day at Tonia Stieltjesplein, at the rear of the Noorderzon building. The open and spontaneous nature of the mini-festival went down a treat. It was very easy for the audience to join in with their own song, recitation or poem.

In addition, various guests provided musical and culinary entertainment for everyone. Residents and staff from the neighbouring Liesbeth List Huis also had a great time. It was therefore decided that there is every reason to hold an annual Noorderzon festival.
